EU MUST SUPERSIZE ACTION ON TAX

3 December 2015 - 9:45am
Press release

Responding the European Commission’s announcement of an investigation into McDonald’s Luxembourg tax practices, Owen Espley, Senior Economic Justice Campaigner at War on Want, said:

“The Commission’s investigation into McDonald's dodgy tax practices is long overdue. For too long McDonald's has been driving-thru without paying: creaming off profits and serving an unhappy meal of poverty wages and zero hour contracts.

“While public services are cut, the EU allows multinationals to pitch country against country in a race to the bottom on tax. European citizens want an EU that cooperates to make multinationals pay their fair share. It’s time for the EU to supersize action on tax."
