Briefing: military detention of Palestinian children by Israeli authorities

February 2018

Israel may be the only country in the world that automatically prosecutes children in military courts that lack basic and fundamental fair trial guarantees. The arrest and detention of Palestinian children is part of a wider context of violence, militarised repression, and deprivation of human rights that is the cornerstone of Israel’s occupation.

Back to Basics: Progressive Trade Deals

February 2018

When the UK leaves the EU it will be in charge of its own trade policy for the first time in more than 40 years, so trade is set to be a hot topic for years to come. We teamed up with CLASS, Global Justice Now, the University of Warwick and the Trade Justice Movement to create this expert guide which goes back to basics on trade. It explains the dangers of modern trade deals and what we should be looking for in a progressive trade agenda.

Briefing: effect of Israeli demolitions on Palestinian communities

December 2017

Palestinian communities in the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territory (oPt) are at imminent risk of forcible transfer at the hands of Israeli authorities. Thousands have already been displaced, and the education and livelihoods of even more effected, by demolitions throughout the years. The demolition of Palestinian structures violates numerous elements of international humanitarian law, including the prohibition of forcible displacement, a war crime.

Defend the Right to Work Action Card

December 2017

Defend the right to work and help stop immigration controls from undermining workers' rights. Ask your friends, family, colleagues and fellow trade unionist to sign and send this action card to their MP.  In the wake of Brexit, the call to ‘control our borders’ risks being used to not only restrict freedom of movement but to weaken the rights of migrant workers.

Only by protecting equal social and labour rights for all workers can we stop a race to the bottom where employers drive down working conditions for everyone.

Securing Democracy in UK Trade Policy: Developing a transparent and democratic approach to trade agreements

November 2017

The UK Government has introduced a new Trade Bill, but provisions to make trade policy accountable to Parliament are sorely lacking and must be incorporated. The Government currently has unchecked powers to negotiate and ratify trade agreements in secret without public or Parliamentary oversight. This huge democratic deficit must be corrected.
