#1DayWithoutUs: War on Want says ‘stand with migrant workers’

20 February 2017 - 8:15am
Press release

Today (Monday 20 February) War on Want will join One Day Without Us, a national day of action to celebrate the contribution of migrants to the UK.

War on Want will be attending a demonstration called by The Bakers' Union #FastFoodRights campaign and the RMT, to say loud and clear - migrant workers are welcome here.

War on Want’s labour rights campaigner, Owen Espley, said:

“The aftermath of the EU referendum, and President Trump’s politics of hate, are causing fear and anxiety, especially for migrant communities so  we are coming together to stand for justice.

“War on Want has always stood in solidarity with workers around the world. Today, many migrant workers across the UK face racism, abuse and exploitation fuelled by years of hostile policies and anti-migrant rhetoric. We must fight for the rights of migrants, celebrate migrants’ crucial contribution to society and stand with migrant workers.”
