5 January 2017 - 10:15am
Press release

Responding to news that Israeli prime minister Benyamin Netanyahu has called for a pardon for a soldier convicted of killing a Palestinian man, War on Want’s senior militarism and security campaigner, Ryvka Barnard, said:

"Benyamin Netanyahu’s call to pardon an Israeli soldier filmed shooting dead an injured and defenceless Palestinian man is disgraceful, and a stark reminder of Israeli prime minister’s lack of respect for justice, due process, rights or the law.

"Israeli soldiers and the Israeli state are not above international law and must be held to account."
