Crackdown on Palestinian protesters raise questions about UK arms trade with Israel

Over the past 5 years, the UK government has approved over £500million worth of arms exports to Israel. Those exports didn’t halt even as Israel was being investigated for war crimes stemming from unlawful use of force, and even as the UK government itself was issuing statements of concern about Israel’s violations of international law.

Government defeated in Lords over meaningful vote on future trade deals

Trade justice campaigners have welcomed the government's defeat over Amendment 12 to the Trade Bill in the House of Lords. A cross-party amendment to give parliament the power to hold the government to account for its trade policy was passed by 215 votes to 168.
