Stop Arming Israel: Arms dealers descend on DSEI

14 September 2015 - 3:45pm
Press release

DSEI, one of the world's biggest arms fairs, begins in London tomorrow. From 15-18 September, more than 1000 companies will showcase their weapons and make deadly deals with buyers from across the world.

Every two years, DSEI comes to London, and every two years the Israeli military industry plays a leading role.

Ryvka Barnard, Senior Military and Security Campaigner for War on Want, said:

"Israel is one of a handful of a countries with a ‘national pavilion’ at DSEI, a designated area where Israeli arms companies exhibit ‘battle tested’ military technology used on Palestinians.

"Israel’s brutal military occupation of Palestine is only made possible through international support from governments and from the many international corporations that profit from the occupation. It is time the UK ended the shameful arms trade with Israel."

Last week the Stop The Arms Fair coalition organised a week of protest as weapons and machinery rolled in to London's ExCel.  In July War on Want launched the report Arming Apartheid: UK complicity in Israel's crimes against the Palestinian people. War on Want is calling for an immediate two-way arms embargo between the UK and Israel.
