War on Want’s AGM 2018

This year our Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held at: 12 noon Tuesday 1 May 2018 at Unison Centre, 130 Euston Road, London NW1 2AY.

Our AGM is open to all members and affiliates to attend. It gives you the chance to hear first-hand reports about what has been achieved over the past year, ask questions and vote on any resolutions presented at the meeting. If you're not a member of War on Want you can join us today with a regular donation – click here to set up your membership – it takes just a few minutes.

Election for the War on Want Council of Management:

War on Want received four valid nominations for the trustee vacancies on the Council of Management, by the deadline announced.  The election is therefore uncontested and the following will be declared appointed as trustees at the AGM:  Shaista Aziz, Roger Mckenzie, Anna Stone and Rafeef Ziadeh.  Supporting statements for each of the new trustees can be found here.

Emergency resolutions

In an emergency, resolutions may be submitted for consideration by the AGM after the deadline for receipt of ordinary resolutions. Emergency resolutions must be submitted by 12 noon on Sunday 29 April 2018.

For a resolution to be considered on this basis it must:

  • Relate solely to matters that have taken place since 9am Monday 26 February 2018
  • Be seconded and submitted in writing on the relevant form to David Rudkin no less than 48 hours before the AGM is due to take place.

War on Want is particularly seeking an experienced Board Treasurer with a financial background who, as well as fulfilling the duties of a general Trustee of the charity, will also hold specific responsibility for:

·       Providing strategic financial leadership and guidance to the organisation.

·       Overseeing the organisation’s financial affairs, including its financial viability, management of funds and investment strategy.

·       Ensuring, with the support of the Company Secretary, that proper financial records and procedures are maintained in accordance with applicable laws and regulations and other duties undertaken by the Company Secretary.

·       The Treasurer will work closely with the Executive Director, Director of Finance and Administration, Senior Management Team and finance staff, and will chair the trustees’ Finance Sub-Committee.

·       The right candidate will be a high calibre, suitably experienced Trustee, with a strong commitment to War on Want’s mission, as well the interest and ability to contribute to the development of the organisation.
