Help the Sri Lankan people rebuild their lives after war!

You will have no doubt seen the recent media coverage of devastation in northern Sri Lanka following the massive offensive which left thousands dead. Hundreds of thousands of people have fled their homes and communities. We need your help today to help people rebuild their lives following this conflict.

War on Want's partner organisation in Sri Lanka has been training rural communities and local farming associations with knowledge and skills on organic farming methods.

This has enabled people to grow their own food and free up their limited income to cover education and healthcare costs. Any surplus they produce can be sold at local markets.

One farmer described home-gardens as "a kind of immune system: if prices go up nationally or internationally, we can survive as we grow our own food."

This work has proved highly successful, currently supporting 125 communities in Sri Lanka. We need your urgent support today to enable our partner organisation to expand into areas which have been affected by conflict and reach many more people.

Thank you.

How your support can help:

  • £50 could help train small-scale farmers in new organic farming methods.
  • £30 could publicise Monlar's work and lobby government to change agricultural policy.
  • £15 could pay for tools, seeds and posters to distribute to farmers.
