This report is the result of a collaborative research project between War on Want, the Workers Education Association Zambia (WEAZ) and the Alliance for Zambia Informal Economy Associations (AZIEA).
The report seeks to provide an insight into the organising and advocacy strategies of informal economy associations in Ghana, Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia, as well as shed light on the way they have interacted with local and central government.
Furthermore, the report aims to provide a background to the reasons for growth of the informal economy, and discusses the extent to which local and central government have attempted to address the needs of workers in the informal economy.
