"This is the latest blow for Wayuu indigenous and Afro-colombian communities who have been struggling for over thirty years against the Cerrejón mine.

"The dirty, polluting mine has already forced 15 communities from their land and left their lives and livelihoods in tatters - and now a vital water source is to be carved up and destroyed.

"The treatment endured by communities is a scandal, it's time the mine owners respected the rights of communities, and were held to account for their actions."
