George Green Year 10s take action for a sweat-free Olympics

Great work, Year 10s! What a result!
On 13 October, a group of Year 10s at George Green School in East London took part in a day of campaigning activities for their Citizenship course work.
The group used PlayFair2012's Action Tree to plan their action. One half of the class worked together to write a joint letter to their MP, Jim Fitzpatrick, on the exploitation of workers making official merchandise for the Olympics. They included local context on the history of sweatshops in East London and Tower Hamlets being an Olympic Borough which made for an impressive letter! The other half of the class worked on their Perfect Pitch - how to deliver their letter to their MP in a short, convincing manner. The whole class also did some basic upcycling of garments with sweatshop messages - Thanks to our partners TRAID for donating t-shirts and expertise!
The letter was then presented to Jim Fitzpatrick who was visiting the school that day. Following the presentation he said that he was impressed by the letter and had visited Bangladesh before, was concerned about sweatshop exploitation and would take the students request seriously. He gave the presenters his card and posed for a photo with the students next to PlayFair2012's sweat-free Olympics giant spray can.
