War on Want and PCS call on government to close the tax gap!

War on Want and the Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) today held a protest outside parliament against George Osbourne’s latest budget, which avoided the issue of tax dodging and puts the squeeze further on working people and public services.

Speakers from War on Want and PCS Union and PCS members in the Sustainable Development Commission called on the government to close the tax gap by clamping down on tax dodging which is costing the UK billions of pounds per year. The noisy protest also demanded investment in public services, rather than wholesale cuts that will hit the most vulnerable in society hardest.

The protest took place ahead of the mass demo that is taking place this weekend (Saturday 26th March), which will see thousands gather in London to signal their opposition to the government’s austerity agenda.
