Big thanks to all of you Glasto revellers who stopped by our stall in the Green Futures Field (or who were accosted by our trolley) and signed our petition to protect overseas workers from exploitation by UK supermarkets. It was great to chat to so many of you about sweatshop labour, supermarkets, the fast-fashion industry and what we can do about it! Thanks to the glorious sunshine, we were able to collect hundreds of signatures and get into the festival vibe.
War on Want is demanding that the UK government pass legislation to ensure that workers abroad producing goods for British supermarkets and other high street shops are paid a living wage. You can sign our petition online if you haven't already, as well as our letter to MPs, demanding that sweatshop exploitation ends.
You can order the petition in hard copy to help us collect signatures. Also, all the reports, briefings and action cards you saw on our stall can be ordered for free. Also, as much as we would love to, we can't take our trolley to every festival so if you want us to send you some campaigns materials for your stall, do let us know and extend the fight for global justice.
