G20 summit - thousands mobilise for global justice
02 April 2009
On 2 April 2009, G20 leaders met in London to tackle the economic crisis. War on Want joined tens of thousands of protestors to voice opposition to world leaders' attempts to resurrect the failed policies and institutions of the free market era.

War on Want is calling for a new economic system based on the principles of public benefit, not private profit, through democratic control and a fair redistribution of the fruits of globalisation.
Thousands demand a system that Puts People First
On 28 March War on Want marched with tens of thousands of people through London to demand a new economic system that puts people first. They demanded decent jobs and public services for all -- an end to global poverty, inequality and a green economy.
Financial Fools Day - G20 protest at the Bank of England
War on Want joined thousands of demonstrators in the city on the eve of the G20 summit. From four corners of the city protestors converged on the Bank of England.
The G20 verdict
By refusing to address the root causes of the crisis, the G20 leaders will plunge millions more into poverty and unemployment. Read our press release on the outcomes of the G20 summit.
2009 is a critical year for global justice
War on Want will continue to campaign for a just response to the financial crisis. As a member of the Put People First alliance of 160 unions, development, faith and climate change groups we will continue to make the case for fundamental change in the global economy throughout this critical year.
