Fuel on the Fire
22 May 2011

A gripping new book by War on Want’s Campaigns and Policy Director Greg Muttitt takes us behind the scenes of the occupation of Iraq to answer one of the war’s most pressing questions: what happened to Iraq’s oil?
Drawing on hundreds of unreleased government documents and extensive interviews with senior American, British and Iraqi officials and oilmen, Fuel on the Fire reveals how the occupying powers sought to sell Iraq’s oil industry to multinational companies. But it also tells the inspiring story of how Iraqi civil society groups campaigned to thwart their plans - with surprising success.
Fuel on the Fire is vital to our understanding of the war in Iraq and its consequences.
