War on Want joins director Ken Loach for launch of Route Irish

War on Want is proud to be working with award-winning director Ken Loach on the launch of Route Irish, a critically acclaimed film about mercenaries in Iraq.

Route Irish

Route Irish is a fast-paced conspiracy thriller that delivers a fresh insight into the moral and political corruption at play during the occupation of Iraq. As well as exploring the actions of private military and security firms on the ground in Iraq, Loach and screenwriter Paul Laverty (Looking for Eric, The Wind That Shakes the Barley) look at the effects of combat on security contractors – the new “soldiers” of modern warfare.

War on Want advised Loach and Laverty during the development stages of the film.  As part of the film launch War on Want will be taking part in a number of post-show talks with Ken Loach around the UK.
