McDonald’s unhappy meal just got supersized

4 March 2016 - 12:30pm
Press release

Responding to news that McDonald's tax affairs are being investigated in Brazil, Owen Espley, Senior Economic Justice Campaigner at War on Want, said:

"McDonald's unhappy meal just got supersized; for too long its anti-union business model has served up low pay, while its shady tax affairs have ripped off the public."

Responding to news that McDonald's will appear before the European Parliament's Taxe2 committee, Owen Espley continued:

“McDonald’s failure to give a straight answer about its corporate structure and how much tax it pays shows its contempt for its workers, consumers, and the taxpaying public.  No doubt the committee will press McDonald’s on their evasiveness in light of the European Commission's revelations and investigation into their tax affairs."
