Once again, War on Want is proud to be one of the supporters of the hugely successful Latin America Conference taking place from 9.15 – 17.00 on Saturday 26 November at TUC, Congress House, Great Russell Street, London WC1B 3LS

War on Want has worked with partners across the region for many years – in Honduras, Colombia and Peru. With the new world order, we are yet again at a critical moment for Latin America.

This conference brings together political leaders, trade unionists, NGOs, academics & progressive movements to explore recent developments across the region, along with films, music and exhibitions showcasing Latin American culture.

Speakers this year include lead negotiator in the Colombian peace talks Ivan Marquez, representatives of Latin American Embassies and writers and academics from around the world. War on Want former Executive Director, John Hilary will be speaking on the impact of Free Trade Agreements & Corporate Greed on Latin America.

Migrant and precarious workers are winning Britain a pay rise. Migrant and precarious workers are leading the fights to get organised. They are tackling precarious work, outsourcing and privatisation, the real drivers of low pay and insecurity at work.  Despite facing stigmatisation by a media that too often blames them for low pay and insecurity at work, they are standing up for themselves and winning. Their struggles tell an important story about how Britain can win a pay rise: by standing with migrant workers and ending precarious contracts.
