Drones Week of Action 2015

2 October 2015 - 3:45pm
Press release

Drones are indiscriminate weapons of war responsible for thousands of civilian deaths.  War on Want has previously documented the use of drones in Gaza and their terrifying effects.

On the eve of Drones Week of Action 2015 (3-10 October), Ryvka Barnard, Senior Campaigner on Militarism and Security at War on Want, said:

“Right now, Elbit Systems, one of Israel's largest arms companies, has factories in the UK producing drones used in Israeli military assaults on Palestinians. By licensing arms exports to Israel, the British government is giving material support to Israel’s aggression against the Palestinian people.

“In 2014 alone, the UK government licensed over £11.6 million worth of military equipment and arms components for export to Israel, with full knowledge of what those arms are used for. It is why War on Want continues to call for a two-way arms embargo against Israel.”
