Court bins injunction banning protests at drones factory

27 October 2015 - 2:00pm
Press release

The Birmingham High Court today threw out an injuction banning protests at a drones factory in Shenstone.

The factory - UAV Engines Ltd - is a subsidiary of Elbit Systems, one of Israel's largest arms companies and a producer of drones and other military technology used in Israeli military assaults on Gaza.

Ryvka Barnard, Campaigner at War on Want, said:

“It would have been a travesty for people to be criminalised for protesting against the sale of arms that are killing Palestinians.  It just goes to show the depths UAV Engines will stoop to in order to protect the profits they make from the sale of deadly drones.

"We welcome the news that the judge has binned this draconian injunction and we will keep up the fight for an immediate two-way arms embargo between the UK and Israel.”
