Take Action! Email the Foreign Secretary
Call on the Foreign Secretary to suspend the EU-Israel Association Agreement, which gives trading preferences to Israel despite its human rights abuses against the Palestinian people. Its suspension would bring pressure on Israel to abide by international law.

To: Dear Foreign Secretary, Palestine is facing a humanitarian catastrophe. UN reports reveal that 70% of Palestinians are now living in acute poverty and that over half of Palestinians are completely dependent on food aid. This poverty is a direct result of Israel's occupation of the Occupied Palestinians territories and its intensification of action against the Palestinian people over the past seven years. According to the Department for International Development: "Poverty in the occupied Palestinian territories is a product of occupation and conflict." Instead of standing up for people living under occupation, the UK and other EU member states have exacerbated the crisis by suspending direct aid to the Palestinian Authority. Yet Israel, the aggressor, continues to enjoy trading preferences with Europe under the EU-Israel Association Agreement. The EU must suspend the EU-Israel Association Agreement in order to bring pressure on Israel to abide by international law. Article 2 of the Agreement makes Israel's trading preferences conditional upon respect for human rights, a condition which UN specialists say has been breached by Israel on many occasions. We call on you to press for this suspension immediately. Yours sincerely, |
