Provide sexual health education to five women sweatshop workers
Price: £30
In Guatemala, 56% of women live in poverty, with a further 16% suffering extreme poverty. Many women work in the maquila industry, or sweatshops.

These women are often poor, many are single mothers, and the majority live in areas that lack access to basic services, potable water, have limited access to health care, and no professional training – which limits the opportunities to find other jobs. The high indices of extreme poverty – in conjunction with the difficult access to health services and information and family planning – expose the population, and especially women and young people, to sexually transmitted diseases, HIV & AIDS, unwanted pregnancies, and premature school-leaving. War on Want's partner, AMES, is working with maquila workers to not only increase their rights at work but also to run workshops disseminating information on contraceptive methods and the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases. Just £30 could pay for sexual and reproductive health training for 5 women
