Youth Action Network
Get active, make a difference!
War on Want is looking for keen individuals who would like to get more involved in our campaigns to fight injustice and inequality all over the world. If you have a little time on your hands to help spread the message of our campaigns, below is a calendar of upcoming events and information on how YOU can get involved. We will be updating this page regularly with actions around several issues so watch this space!
Email yan@waronwant.org for more information.
June-December 2008
Local Area Activists Over the coming months, we will be stepping up our campaigns on Supermarkets & Sweatshops, Trade Justice and Corporations & Conflict. We need people all over the UK to help us bring those campaigns to the wider public and become part of our activist network. If you are interested in any or all of:
then this may be the job for you! We are currently putting together campaign packs with advice and ideas on how to campaign in your town/village/university. Please email yan@waronwant.org to order a pack and take the fight for global justice to your local area.
11 October 2008
National Hands Off Iraqi Oil Action As the Iraqi people continue to suffer under foreign occupation, multinational corporations continue in their efforts to control Iraq’s oil. Before leaving office, the Bush administration is determined to pass an oil law that would hand over Iraq’s oil to companies like Shell and BP for a generation. The Hands Off Iraqi Oil coalition will be taking action on 11 October 2008 to mark the 100-day countdown to Bush and Cheney leaving office. Join our procession through London on Saturday 11 October and help a team of oil law resisters lasso a giant Dick Cheney to keep him away from a barrel of Iraq’s oil. There will be a samba band banging (oil) drums and corporate pirates too! Click click here to download the flyer. Visit www.handsoffiraqioil.org to find out more about the issue, order leaflets and participate in our speaker tour.
