Colombia is the most dangerous country in the world to be a trade unionist. In the last 15 years over 4,000 trade unionists have been killed just because they are trade unionists.

At a time when human and labour rights are under increasing threat from harsh economic reforms and with the long standing civil war worsening, organisations that fight for workers' rights are disappearing fast. War on Want is working in partnership with a network of organisations called Forbidden to Forget Campaign, who are fighting against corruption, human and labour rights violations, and for the right to protest peacefully without fear of recrimination. Through human rights training courses they seek to strengthen the trade unions in southwest Colombia by providing skills to better defend their rights. This knowledge will be given to selected workers who will in turn teach fellow employees. As a result, workers will have the necessary knowledge and power to challenge the government and companies that are currently taking advantage of workers' lack of awareness of their rights. Train a leader in human rights, and help put an end to this exploitation. Just £30 could pay for a series of workshops to create a leader in human rights.
