Glastonbury 2003
Bringing it to the Leftfield
War on Want made its Glastonbury home at the Leftfield for the second year running. The Leftfield proved to be a great success with thousands of people packing the tent to watch the likes of comic Mark Thomas and listen to the awesomely hyperactive Asian Dub Foundation.
The main attraction if the Leftfield was the 30ft tower that became a totem pole for political debate and activism for the whole of Glastonbury. Each day a speed painter knocked up an icon of the day in less than five minutes (see below).
In addition, the Leftfield played host to a series of talks about Fair Trade and ethical investment, while the huge number of people coming to hear the likes of Tony Benn and Bianca, clearly proved that Glastonbury has a political voice.
Over the course of the three days, hundreds of people signed up to War on Want's Just Trade? campaign before making off with a Screw Poverty condom.
