Alternative Gifts

We believe that the best way for people to fight their way out of poverty is for them to gain skills and knowledge, because only through this can people be empowered to help end the daily struggle for a better life.

By buying an alternative gift, you are helping to fight poverty. Take a look at the list below, pick a gift, and you'll receive a beautiful gift folder containing a letter and photo. You can also buy them as gifts for birthdays and Christmas and add a personal message.

What's better than contributing toward a long-term solution to global poverty?

The focus of overseas organisations that we support is often on education. By learning basic skills such as literacy, human rights, and by organising themselves into bigger groups, only then can people gain the ability to better fight exploitation at work and at home.

Our alternative gifts range from £5 to £100, and cover projects all around the world, from Colombia to South Africa, from Bangladesh to Brazil. For just £5, you can give health training to 20 flower workers. Or for just £10, you could help South African farm workers defend themselves against unfair dismissal and evictions.
